Karachi Traffic Police to Deploy Robots for E-Challans Next Month

KARACHI โ€“ The Karachi traffic police have announced plans to deploy robots for issuing e-challans as part of the cityโ€™s ongoing e-tracks system. This move aims to modernize traffic enforcement and improve road safety.

DIG Traffic, Peer Mohammad Shah, revealed at a recent event that the city will soon launch a third method for issuing e-challans using robots. The robots are expected to operate on major roads, including Saddar and Tariq Road, starting next month.

These robots will travel at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, scanning vehicles in real-time. They will automatically issue e-challans to drivers violating traffic rules or parking regulations. The technology is designed to reduce human intervention and ensure more consistent enforcement of traffic laws.

The initiative comes as part of broader efforts by the Karachi traffic police to enhance traffic management across the city. Over the past two weeks, the e-track system has already issued nearly 50,000 e-challans to citizens for traffic violations.

Officials believe that integrating robots into the system will streamline the enforcement process, making it faster and more efficient. This technology is also expected to improve compliance with traffic rules and reduce congestion on busy city roads.

By using robots, the Karachi traffic police hope to maintain a safer and more organized traffic environment. The project reflects the cityโ€™s commitment to adopting modern technology to tackle long-standing traffic challenges.
