New Zealand Clinches T20 Series Against West Indies with 3–1 Victory

Dunedin – New Zealand secured a 3–1 triumph in the five-match T20 International series against the West Indies after winning the final match by eight wickets at University Oval on Thursday.

Opting to field first, New Zealand restricted the West Indies to 140 runs in 18.4 overs. Fast bowler Jacob Duffy starred with four wickets for 35 runs, while James Neesham supported with two wickets for 31.

Roston Chase led the West Indies’ batting with 38 off 32 balls, and Romario Shepherd added 36 from 22. However, consistent breakthroughs by New Zealand bowlers prevented any big partnerships from forming.

In response, the Black Caps reached 141 with 26 balls remaining. Tim Robinson scored 45 off 24 deliveries, and Devon Conway remained unbeaten on 47 from 42 balls. Rachin Ravindra contributed 21, and Mark Chapman finished the chase with an unbeaten 21.

Shepherd and Shamar Springer took one wicket each for the West Indies, but their efforts could not halt the chase.

Jacob Duffy’s outstanding bowling earned him both Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. His consistent performances were key in New Zealand’s success throughout the campaign.

With this victory, New Zealand demonstrated strong team balance, combining effective bowling with aggressive batting to dominate the series. The win also highlights the depth in the Black Caps’ squad ahead of future international fixtures.
