Moscow: Russia has issued a stern warning that it will “act accordingly” should the United States resume nuclear weapons testing. The statement comes amid growing tensions over global arms control and nuclear deterrence.
Russian officials said that any move by the US to restart nuclear testing would threaten international security and could trigger a corresponding response from Moscow. The country emphasized that it remains committed to strategic stability, but will take all necessary measures to protect its national security interests.
Experts note that the warning underscores rising concerns over the erosion of arms control agreements and the potential for a renewed arms race. Russia and the US are both signatories to several treaties limiting nuclear tests, including the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which seeks to prevent further proliferation.
The US has not officially announced a plan to resume testing but has been reviewing its nuclear posture in response to evolving global threats. Analysts say that any testing could escalate tensions between the two powers and have significant geopolitical repercussions.
