Former Pakistan pacer Abdur Rauf Khan has strongly criticized fast bowler Haris Rauf, questioning his consistency and impact in major international tournaments.
In a post on X, Abdur Rauf Khan claimed that Haris Rauf has failed to deliver in key moments, calling him โnot a match-winning player.โ He accused the bowler of underestimating fans and lacking accountability for poor performances.
โHaris Rauf thinks fans are foolish. He says he cannot perform in every match โ but in which ICC event has he performed?โ Abdur Rauf Khan asked in his statement.
The former cricketer backed his remarks with examples, citing Harisโs expensive spells in the 2022 T20 World Cup, 2023 Asia Cup, and 2023 ODI World Cup. He blamed these performances for Pakistanโs defeats in crucial matches.
โYou gave away 20 runs in Melbourne during the 2022 World Cup. In the 2023 Asia Cup, you didnโt even finish your overs. Then, in the 2023 World Cup, Pakistan suffered another humiliation,โ he wrote.
Abdur Rauf Khan continued his criticism by pointing to Harisโs poor form in later tournaments, including Pakistanโs early exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Asia Cup final defeat against India.
He also questioned Harisโs domestic cricket record, claiming he lacked the stamina required for long-format matches. โYouโve only played two first-class games and bowled poorly. Real cricketers like Mitchell Starc play domestic cricket with full commitment,โ he added.
Citing Starcโs professionalism, Rauf Khan urged Haris to learn from the Australian pacerโs dedication and consistency.
Notably, Haris Rauf recently took four wickets in Pakistanโs six-run victory over Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. Responding to critics, he said players are human and cannot perform perfectly in every match.
