Islamabad authorities have successfully dismantled a TTP cell responsible for a recent suicide bombing at the Judicial Complex in G-11. The attack claimed 12 lives and injured several others, according to an official statement released on Friday.
A joint operation by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) led to the arrest of four members of the TTP/Fitna al-Khawarij network linked to the attack. Officials confirmed that the entire operation was guided by intelligence inputs tracing the cellโs activities.
During interrogations, Sajidullah alias Sheena, the handler of the suicide bomber, revealed that TTP/FAK Commander Saeed-ur-Rehman alias Daadullah directed the operation from Afghanistan. Daadullah, acting as TTPโs Intelligence Chief for Nawagai, Bajaur, coordinated the attack using the Telegram messaging platform to instruct Sheena.
The bomber, Usman alias Qari, was a resident of Achin, Nangarhar, Afghanistan, and belonged to the Shinwari tribe. After entering Pakistan, Sheena arranged for Usmanโs stay near Islamabad and fitted him with a suicide jacket procured from Akhun Baba graveyard in Peshawar. The attack was planned to maximize casualties among law enforcement agencies.
Officials confirmed that the TTP cell was under the supervision of the high command based in Afghanistan. All members involved, including the cell commander, have been arrested. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities expect further arrests and revelations.
In response to the attack, the federal government announced stricter security measures in Islamabad. Vehicles without electronic tags (E-tags) will now be barred from entering the capital.
Minister of State for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry introduced the โSecure Neighborhood Surveyโ to improve public safety and monitor security across Islamabad. The initiative, the first of its kind, aims to prevent such incidents in the future and strengthen law enforcement response.
The dismantling of this TTP cell highlights Pakistanโs intensified efforts to combat terrorism and protect civilians in key urban centers.
