Islamabad: Minister for Communications Aleem Khan has instructed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to establish new toll plazas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to improve revenue collection and strengthen road management across the province.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting where the minister reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects and the financial performance of NHA. He emphasized the need for modern toll systems, transparent revenue processes, and upgraded monitoring mechanisms.
Aleem Khan said the new toll plazas should be designed to meet international standards and ensure smooth traffic flow. He also highlighted the importance of proper maintenance of existing motorways and highways, directing officials to address delays in repair works.
The NHA chairman briefed the minister on potential locations for the new toll points and the expected increase in revenue once operational. The authority has been asked to finalize feasibility reports and begin implementation at the earliest.
The initiative aims to support the federal governmentโs broader plan to enhance the countryโs road infrastructure, improve travel safety, and ensure sustainable funding for highway development.
