Mega Deal at White House: Saudi Arabia’s $1 Trillion Investment Shocks Global Markets

Mega Deal at White House: Saudi Arabia’s $1 Trillion Investment Shocks Global Markets

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made a major diplomatic visit to the United States on Tuesday, receiving a rare personal welcome from former President Donald Trump at the White House. The event marked one of the most significant Saudi engagements in Washington in more than seven years.

The Crown Prince arrived at the White House through a red-carpet reception lined with dozens of uniformed US military personnel. Fighter jets flew overhead as his limousine, escorted by a mounted honor guard, approached the South Drive. The ceremony set the tone for what many observers called one of the most impactful geopolitical meetings of the year.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince announced a major boost in Saudi investment in the United States. He pledged to increase investment from $600 billion to nearly $1 trillion, focusing on advanced sectors such as artificial intelligence, technology and innovation. The commitment highlights Riyadh’s ambition to deepen its long-term economic partnership with Washington.

Mohammed bin Salman praised the United States, calling it the most important country in the world. Trump echoed the sentiment, referring to the Crown Prince as “the future king of Saudi Arabia” and celebrating the scale of Saudi investment commitments.

Trump also confirmed that the US is prepared to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. The kingdom has requested 48 F-35s, which would mark the first sale of the advanced stealth aircraft to Saudi Arabia. If completed, the deal could significantly shift the military balance in the Middle East. It would also end Israel’s exclusive access to the F-35, raising new questions about Washington’s long-standing policy of maintaining Israel’s “qualitative military edge.”

Behind closed doors, Trump and the Crown Prince held detailed discussions on security cooperation. Trump emphasized growing defense collaboration between Israel and Saudi Arabia, a development that continues to reshape regional alliances and power structures.
