Babar Azam Drops To Eighth In Recent ICC Test Rankings

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has made strides in the ICC Test rankings, securing the sixth position, while Pakistan’s former skipper Babar Azam has slipped to the eighth position due to a recent dip in form.

In the latest ICC Test batsmen rankings, the top spot is held by New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson, who boasts 864 rating points. England’s Joe Root follows closely in the second position with 859 points. Notably, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, who showcased exceptional skills in the recent Test series against Pakistan, are positioned at third and fourth places, respectively. Despite facing challenges against South Africa, Virat Kohli has managed to climb to the sixth position, pushing Babar Azam down to the eighth spot with 768 rating points.

The Sydney Test witnessed a remarkable innings from Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, scoring 88 runs in the first innings. This performance propelled him to gain ten positions, securing the 17th rank with 668 rating points. Additionally, Saud Shakeel’s contributions have earned him the 14th position with 693 rating points.

In the bowling department, Aamir Jamal’s outstanding performance in his debut series has led to a significant climb of 12 positions for him, reaching a career-best 45th rank. Meanwhile, Shahin Afridi continues to hold the 12th position with 733 rating points.
