FBR Identifies Mall of Islamabad as Benami Property

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken action to attach a suspected Benami property, Plot No. 56-N, located at the main Jinnah Avenue, sector F-7, Islamabad, according to high-level sources informed by ProPakistani. It is reported that the FBR Anti-Benami Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner IR/Initiating Officer has issued an order for the Provisional Attachment of the Benami property, Plot No. 56-N, situated at the main Jinnah Avenue, sector F-7, Islamabad. This action comes following an authorized inquiry and investigation under Section 21 of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 2017, with a show cause notice issued under Section 22(1) of the Act (vide C.No. 113(1)/IO-(1)-BZISB/2020/507).

After considering the reasons stated in the show cause notice and the material evidence, the Approving Authority, Commissioner IR, Benami Zone-1, Islamabad, has approved under Section 22(3) (vide office letter C.No. 338 dated 30.04.2024) the provisional attachment of the suspected Benami property, i.e., Plot No. 56-N, situated at the main Jinnah Avenue, sector F-7, Islamabad.

In accordance with Section 22(3) read with Section 5 of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act 2017, the transfer or charging of the aforementioned property is hereby prohibited and restrained until further orders. All individuals are prohibited from benefiting from such transfer or charge.

This order of Provisional Attachment will be immediately effective and will remain in force for a period not exceeding ninety days from the date of issuance of the notice under Section 22(1) of the Act, as per sources. It is reported that a commercial plaza named Mall of Islamabad is being constructed on this plot, with Vicky Trading Pvt Limited identified as the benamidar company.
