Gold House admires Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Ms Marvels creators

The work of Gold House, a nonprofit collective dedicated to amplifying the cultural impact and social influence of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community in the United States, was recently praised by renowned director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on Instagram. Obaid-Chinoy emphasised the importance of advocating for API people and stories, emphasising the importance of representation.

Chinoy singled out Gold House for recognising the cast and creators of the popular series Ms Marvel. Iman Vellani, who plays iconic superhero Kamala Khan, was honoured by being named to Gold House’s prestigious A100 list.

The A100 list honours Asian Pacific leaders who have had a significant impact on culture and society in the previous year. Vellani was named a “rising leader who will redefine canon for the Asian Pacific community” by the award committee.

“The work that Gold House is doing is so important,” Obaid-Chinoy wrote. “It’s time to stand up for our people and our stories!” As we did when we gathered to celebrate Sana, Iman, and Asad!” Bing Chen, Impact Founder and Investor, was also thanked by the acclaimed director.

Along with Vellani, the producer of Ms Marvel, Sana Amanat, and Asad Ayaz, Chief Brand Officer at The Walt Disney Company, were named to Gold House’s A100 list. This honour recognises their significant contributions to the entertainment industry as well as their commitment to promoting API representation.

Gold House, which was founded in 2018, has made it its mission to advance positive representation and inclusion of Asian and Pacific Islander communities in a variety of industries, including entertainment, media, technology, and business. Their initiatives aim to break down stereotypes, promote authentic storytelling, and increase API representation at all levels of society.

Gold House’s recognition of the Ms. Marvel cast and creators demonstrates their commitment to highlighting API individuals’ achievements and contributions to culture and society.
