The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has taken notice of the shortage of essential medicines in various hospitals, Rural Health Centres (RHCs), and Basic Health Units (BHUs) within the province. In response, they have written a letter to the Health Services Director General, urging immediate action to address this matter of public concern and ensure the provision of high-quality healthcare services to the general population.
The letter highlights instances of medicine scarcity in different healthcare facilities, which have led to compromised patient treatment. It emphasizes the need for all relevant departments to collaboratively address the issue of inadequate and irregular availability of vital medicines in hospitals, RHCs, and BHUs across the province.

Meanwhile, Dr. Riaz Anwar, the Adviser to the Chief Minister on Health, has taken strong notice of the situation. He has issued directives to ensure the immediate availability of all essential medicines in every healthcare facility within the province. This move reflects the government’s commitment to delivering effective healthcare services to the public and addressing critical issues to safeguard patient well-being.
