JHELUM – Islamic scholar and popular online figure Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has once again narrowly escaped an attack, which he described as an assassination attempt.
According to media reports, a security guard stationed at Mirza’s Research Academy thwarted an assault on the outspoken commentator, known for his disagreements with scholars from different religious perspectives.
The assailant, identified as Ali Hassan from Gujrat, attempted to force his way into the Research Academy premises armed with a sharp weapon. He pushed the guard in a bid to gain entry.
However, the attacker was overpowered by the guards and other academy members, preventing his entry.
Subsequently, the attacker confessed his sinister intent to assassinate the controversial scholar.
A legal case has been filed, and ongoing investigations are in progress.
This incident marks the second attempt on Mirza’s life. The first occurred in 2017, and the most recent attack took place in 2021 when an armed individual assaulted Mirza while taking a photo with him. Mirza, a self-proclaimed Islamic scholar, sustained minor injuries and managed to escape.
