Japan To Introduce Dating App To Boost Birth rate

The Japanese government has decided to introduce an official dating app to encourage marriage and family formation, responding to record-low birth and marriage rates. According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan recorded only 727,277 births last year.

Experts highlight that a fertility rate of 2.1 is necessary for population stability. However, Japan’s birth rate has remained well below this level for the past fifty years.

The significant population decline in Japan is due to both fewer births and more deaths. Last year, there were 1.57 million deaths, far surpassing the number of births. Additionally, only 30,000 marriages were registered last year, indicating a decreasing trend in marriages.

In response to these challenges, the government plans to launch a dating app to help reverse the declining birth rates. Alongside this initiative, the government aims to enhance childcare facilities, provide housing subsidies for parents, and introduce incentives in certain regions to encourage couples to have children.
