Florida man arrested for scamming elderly woman by impersonating Elon Musk

Jeffrey Arthur Moynihan Jr., a Florida resident, was arrested on November 19, 2024, for allegedly posing as Elon Musk to defraud a 74-year-old woman of $250,000. The scam, which began in 2023, involved Moynihan contacting the victim via Facebook and using Musk’s public persona to gain her trust. He convinced the woman to invest in his “businesses,” funneling funds into his own accounts.
