Bollywood star Rani Mukerji is set to reprise her role as the indomitable Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3, the latest instalment of the celebrated crime thriller franchise. Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, with a screenplay by The Railway Men writer Aayush Gupta, the film is slated to begin production in April 2025.
Expressing her excitement, Rani shared, “I’m proud to play this fearless cop once again as a tribute to unsung heroes who keep us safe. Mardaani 3 will be dark, deadly, and brutal.” Fans can expect the film to push the franchise’s gritty storytelling even further.

Produced under Yash Raj Films, the series is celebrated for its bold portrayal of women in law enforcement, with Rani leading the charge. The first two films tackled human trafficking and a sadistic serial killer, cementing the franchise as a gripping commentary on crime and justice.
Mardaani 3 also introduces fresh creative talent, with Minawala and Gupta bringing new energy to the franchise. The film promises to continue the legacy of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a character who redefined female cops on screen.
