Pakistan And Australia Initiate Development Team Exchange Program

Pakistan’s Team Director, Mohammad Hafeez, has revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) have reached an agreement to establish an exchange program for their developmental teams.

During the post-match press conference following Pakistan’s 8-wicket loss to Australia in the third Test in Sydney, Hafeez announced that Cricket Australia has given its nod to hosting regular tours for Pakistan’s U19, A, and Women’s cricket teams.

In elaborating on the development, Hafeez stated, “We have had a meeting with Cricket Australia’s chairman and CEO. They have agreed on our exchange program because we wanted more visiting teams from Pakistan, Pakistan U19, Pakistan A, and Pakistan Women to visit Australia on a regular basis, and similarly, we can offer the same program to these teams in Pakistan.”

Hafeez emphasized the significance of this agreement, highlighting the need for players to adapt to varying cricket conditions.

He further explained, “We need to practice more in these conditions, and they need practice in Asian conditions. And soon, you’ll come to know that this agreement has been signed.”

Additionally, the Professor put forth a suggestion to the International Cricket Council (ICC), proposing the standardization of match fees for Test cricket. He recommended that, similar to ICC’s support for T20 leagues globally, there should be equal pay for Test players across all nations to maintain the format’s integrity.

This exchange program is expected to provide invaluable exposure to budding cricketers from both nations, allowing them to hone their skills in diverse conditions. Such initiatives can contribute significantly to the development of players and foster a deeper understanding of the game across different cricketing landscapes. The bilateral agreement between PCB and CA demonstrates a commitment to enhancing cricketing ties and creating opportunities for emerging talents to flourish on the international stage.
