After competing against Saudi Arabia in Al-Hasa for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, the Pakistan men’s football team has arrived in Islamabad. Following their departure from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with a layover at Dubai Airport, they landed at Islamabad International Airport.
Despite a 0-1 halftime score, Pakistan suffered a 0-4 defeat against Saudi Arabia, who dominated possession with 77%. Saudi Arabia’s experience and organized league system contributed to their victory. Ranked 57th in FIFA World Rankings, Saudi Arabia outclassed Pakistan, positioned at 193rd.
In the absence of Easah Suliman, forward Otis Khan captained the team from the right wing. FIFA recently approved Khan’s eligibility to play for Pakistan based on his ancestry.
The upcoming match will see Pakistan hosting Tajikistan at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, on November 21, 2023, at 2 PM (Pakistan time). The game will be broadcasted on Pakistan Television (PTV) Sports, marking the second match of the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
