The Hazara community in Quetta mourns the loss of Shahida Raza, a 27-year-old woman who attempted to migrate to Europe in search of a better future but killed in a boat accident.

In the world of sports, Raza—also referred to as Chintoo—was a crucial player for the Pakistan Women’s Hockey Team. She also participated in Pakistan Railways’ departmental hockey team.

She also played women’s football for Balochistan United and was a great player.

Raza reportedly had visions of a better future when travelling by sea from Turkey to Italy. Nevertheless, the boat capsized while anchored near Crotone, killing around 200 migrants, including over 40 Pakistanis, the most of whom are said to be from Gujrat.
