ANF Foils Smuggling Attempt of 13kg Ice Hidden in Medical Books

ANF Foils Smuggling Attempt of 13kg Ice Hidden in Medical Books

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a unique drug smuggling attempt in Lahore, uncovering 13 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, also known as β€œIce,” concealed in medical textbooks.

According to officials, the operation was launched after ANF received a tip-off. A raid was conducted at a courier office on Mall Road, where a suspicious parcel booked for Australia was seized.

During inspection, the ANF team found that the pages of the books had been chemically infused with Ice. The narcotics were cleverly absorbed into the fibers of the paper, making the smuggling attempt difficult to detect. Using a specialized detection device, the presence of the drug was confirmed.

The parcel had been sent by a Peshawar resident identified as Fazal Rehman. ANF has dispatched the seized items to a laboratory for separation and detailed analysis. Authorities are now expanding investigations to track down and arrest the suspect behind this trafficking bid.

A spokesperson for ANF expressed deep concern over the rising use of courier services for drug smuggling. He emphasized that the force is working closely with courier companies to strengthen monitoring systems and curb the transportation of narcotics through parcels.

Officials added that this latest recovery highlights the evolving tactics of drug traffickers. ANF has urged citizens and courier services to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to help counter the spread of narcotics.

With this successful operation, ANF has once again demonstrated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking through timely intelligence, swift action, and strong coordination with relevant stakeholders.
