CCD Seeks Rs2.59 Billion for Major Operation in Punjab’s Kacha Region

The Counter-Criminal Directorate (CCD) has been assigned to launch a large-scale operation against dacoit gangs in Punjab’s troubled Kacha region.

The decision follows increasing concerns over law and order in Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Rahim Yar Khan.

To carry out the operation, CCD has requested Rs2.59 billion in funds. Out of this, Rs800 million has been proposed for reward money to encourage effective action.

Another Rs750 million has been sought to strengthen intelligence and secret operations targeting organized criminal groups in the area.

The directorate has also asked for Rs800 million to acquire modern scientific investigation tools and technology. Additionally, Rs7.581 billion has been proposed to meet the operational requirements of the mission.

These requests underline the extensive planning and resources needed to confront the heavily armed dacoits in the Kacha belt.

Earlier, the CCD faced a budget cut of Rs5.33 billion. However, the new demand reflects the urgent need to combat the growing threat of crime in southern Punjab.

Officials argue that the funds are essential for sustaining long-term operations and ensuring the safety of law enforcement personnel.

The proposal also includes special allowances for CCD staff, similar to those given to newly formed paramilitary forces. Authorities say such incentives are necessary, as the operation involves high risks and challenging conditions in remote areas.

The provincial government will now review the funding request and determine the next steps. Public pressure is mounting for swift action to restore peace and protect local communities.

Approval of the funds is expected to play a key role in the success of the operation and in curbing organized crime in the region.
