In a dramatic shift following days of escalating military conflict, Pakistan and India agreed to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire on Saturday, temporarily halting missile exchanges and drone strikes between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
The agreement came hours after Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos,” targeting 26 Indian military installations in response to Indian missile strikes that killed 26 civilians, including women and children. The tipping point was India’s attack on Pakistanโs Nur Khan Air Base, a vital facility near Rawalpindi.

Both sides now face pressure to engage in formal talks at a neutral venue. Pakistan called for constructive diplomacy, especially on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, urging the international community to restrain India from using terrorism as a pretext for aggressive policy moves.
As the fragile peace holds, the world watches closely. The fear of escalation between two nuclear powers has momentarily receded, but deep-rooted tensions remain unresolved.
