Today turned tragic in Mansehra and Haripur as separate road accidents resulted in the loss of four lives and left ten others injured, rescue officials confirmed.
In the Kholia area of Balakot, a horrifying incident unfolded when a vehicle careened off the road and plunged into a ravine. The catastrophic crash claimed the lives of Mohammad Khalid and his son, Mohammad Naqeeb. The family, traveling from Mahandri to Balakot, suffered injuries during the mishap. Prompt response from Rescue 1122 teams saw the injured rushed to Civil Hospital, Balakot. Tragically, upon arrival, doctors pronounced Mohammad Khalid and Mohammad Naqeeb deceased. The remaining injured, including Khalid’s wife and three children, were transferred to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where two were reported in critical condition.
In another heart-wrenching event, a car collided with the boundary wall of Hazara Expressway in the Gandia area, inflicting severe injuries on three tourists. The group, returning to Lahore from a recreational excursion in Kaghan Valley, encountered the accident. Immediate intervention by rescue teams saw Mohammad Sajjad, Rehan, and Jamila Bibi swiftly transported to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile, a devastating collision on the GT Road in Haripur claimed two lives and critically injured three others. Five friends were en route back to Haripur city after attending a wedding in Kalanwan village when their vehicle collided with a truck near Tank Chowk. Umair Ahmed and Naveed tragically lost their lives instantly, while Zeeshan Swati, Shehzad Swati, and Shahmeer sustained severe injuries.
Rescue workers faced a challenging operation, extracting the bodies from the wreckage of both vehicles. Umair Ahmed and Naveed were identified as the deceased, while Zeeshan Swati, Shehzad Swati, and their friend Shahmeer were among the injured.
The incidents have left the communities of Mansehra and Haripur reeling from the tragic loss, with rescue teams tirelessly working to provide aid and support to those affected by these devastating accidents.
