FIA Suspends Torkham Immigration Officer For Filming Female Travellers

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended an officer at the Torkham border immigration centre. The action follows the release of a video showing the officer filming female travellers without their consent.

The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media after the video went viral. It showed women, some without veils, being recorded during immigration procedures.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the officer, identified as Ehtesham-ul-Haq, was caught recording travellers while on duty.

Following this, the FIA director general ordered his immediate suspension and initiated a departmental inquiry. The Peshawar Zone director of the FIA has also been instructed to submit a detailed report on the matter.

β€œThe FIA is committed to providing a respectful and dignified immigration experience for all travellers,” the spokesperson said. β€œAny misuse of authority or violation of duty will face strict disciplinary action.”

The agency emphasised that it is actively working to modernise immigration services while upholding professional standards. β€œAll officials must treat citizens with courtesy and adhere to the law. Any breach of rules will be addressed promptly and without discrimination,” the spokesperson added.

This suspension highlights the FIA’s focus on accountability and maintaining public trust. The agency continues to review its procedures to prevent future incidents and protect the privacy of travellers.

Officials stressed that the FIA will not tolerate any actions undermining citizen rights or safety. The inquiry will determine further disciplinary measures against the officer involved.

The FIA has urged all travellers to report any misconduct at immigration centres. It aims to ensure transparency, professionalism, and strict adherence to regulations across all its operations.
