Five Workers Die in Roof Collapse of Building in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the roof of an under-construction building in the Humak area of Islamabad collapsed, killing at least five workers.

Police reported that rescue teams arrived promptly after being alerted, saving two workers and continuing efforts to rescue another still trapped under the debris. Among the deceased, four were from Tuansa Sharif and one from Karachi’s Malir area.

DC Islamabad Irfan Memon has ordered an inquiry to determine the cause of the collapse and announced that the building will be sealed. The injured workers are receiving treatment in a federal hospital.

Earlier, on August 21, two women died when the roof of a house in Bannu collapsed after being struck by lightning during a storm, with seven others injured. The injured were taken to Khalifa Gul Nawaz hospital for treatment.
