Imran Khan Receives Significant Relief from Lahore High Court

The Lahore High Court has declared Imran Khan’s physical remand in 12 cases related to the May 9 violence as null and void. The court’s ruling came after petitions from Khan challenging his remand. Justices Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Anwarul Haq were involved in the decision, which invalidated the previous order.

During the hearing, the court questioned the fairness of using modern investigative devices and criticized the prosecution’s argument about needing the accused’s presence for photogrammetric testing. Justice Sheikh remarked on the inappropriate use of such tests, and Justice Haq questioned how mobile phones could be recovered if the accused is in jail.

The high court also invalidated the notification requiring Khan’s attendance via video link. This decision effectively removes the physical remand and video link attendance requirements for Khan in these cases.
