The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned several social media influencers for allegedly promoting an illegal Gambling App and other unlicensed trading platforms. Those called for questioning include Iqra Kanwal, Mudassar Hassan, Muhammad Anas Ali, and Muhammad Husnain Shah.
According to authorities, these influencers encouraged thousands of young Pakistanis to join high-risk online platforms. By glamorizing gambling, they reportedly contributed to a growing underground economy worth billions of rupees.
One of the most controversial names in this case is the platform βWorld 777.β Officials claim this Gambling App sponsored influencer campaigns, which led to widespread addiction and financial losses among young people.
Other prominent figures under investigation include Mathira, Nadir Ali, Aimen Zaman, Varda Malik, Javeria Aurangzeb, Abeera Khan, Faryal Fairy, and Nauman Kazmi.
The NCCIA has warned that any influencer who fails to appear before investigators may be considered guilty of involvement. The notice has sent shockwaves through Pakistanβs social media and influencer industry, raising serious concerns about accountability in digital promotions.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has already banned 46 illegal gambling and forex apps. Officials stated that these applications not only collected money illegally but also compromised user privacy by sharing sensitive data.
Authorities further cautioned that such Gambling App platforms continue to target young users in Pakistan. They advised citizens to stay away from unverified investment and trading apps to protect their finances and data security.
The investigation highlights the growing risks of unregulated digital platforms and the urgent need for responsible online promotion. NCCIA stressed that action will be taken against both app operators and promoters who mislead the public for financial gain.
