Islamabad Authorities Close Hiking Trails Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Islamabad Authorities Close Hiking Trails Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Islamabad authorities have announced the closure of all hiking trails in the Margalla Hills due to the forecast of heavy rainfall. The decision, made by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, was issued through an official notification on Monday.

According to the notification, the closure of hiking trails is an immediate precautionary measure to ensure public safety. Authorities stated that no visitor or citizen will be allowed access to any trail until further notice.

The administration explained that hiking trails in the Margalla Hills become dangerous during heavy rains due to slippery paths, falling rocks, and possible landslides. In order to avoid any accidents, the district administration has urged citizens to stay away from the hilly areas until the weather situation improves.

Officials have also advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel towards the hills during the rainy spell. With more rainfall expected in the coming days, the step has been taken to minimize risk and protect lives.

The closure of hiking trails is part of a wider safety strategy that the Islamabad administration follows during the monsoon season. In past years, accidents and injuries have been reported when hikers ignored weather warnings and continued trekking despite dangerous conditions.

Authorities assured that hiking trails will reopen once the weather stabilizes and safety can be ensured for visitors. Until then, residents are encouraged to stay cautious and follow the guidelines shared by the administration.

The Margalla Hills are one of Islamabad’s most popular destinations for hikers and nature lovers. With trails of varying difficulty levels, they attract a large number of visitors every week. However, during heavy rain, the risk of accidents rises sharply, making such safety measures essential.
