Light rain and drizzle continued across parts of Karachi on Thursday morning, giving residents temporary relief from the heat. The Met Department confirmed, however, that the powerful monsoon system has now exited Pakistan.
Showers Reported in Multiple Areas
Residents reported light to moderate showers in several areas, including Faisal Street in PECHS, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Akhtar Colony, Defence, and Kala Pul. The drizzle began in the early hours of Thursday and is expected to continue intermittently until the evening.
No New Monsoon System Expected
Meteorology Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaigham explained that cloud formation in Karachi is mainly due to high humidity levels. He made it clear that no new monsoon system is likely to develop over Sindh, including Karachi. With the system gone, Karachi weather is expected to shift to hot and humid conditions by the end of the week.
Zaigham also noted that residents may still experience light drizzle during early mornings for the next two days.
Current Weather Update
According to the Meteorological Department, Karachiβs temperature currently stands at 28 degrees Celsius. The humidity ratio is recorded at 79%, which is causing excess moisture in the air and cloud formation. This explains the sporadic drizzle across the city.
What to Expect Next
Karachi weather is likely to remain hot and humid in the coming days, with only brief spells of light drizzle in the mornings. The Met Office has advised residents to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions during the humid spell.
