Latif Khosa, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), recently suggested that a potential U.S. election victory for Donald Trump might lead to former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s release from jail. Khosa hinted that Trump’s return could shift Pakistan’s political landscape, favoring Khan, who currently faces legal challenges. He expressed confidence that Khan would secure relief through the judiciary, without any political bargains.

In response, U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller denied the claim, asserting that Khan’s legal issues are purely a matter for Pakistan’s judiciary. Miller emphasized that the United States remains uninvolved in Pakistan’s internal political affairs, reiterating that the people of Pakistan are responsible for shaping their country’s political future.

Miller’s statement sought to clarify the U.S. stance, following questions raised by Khosa’s comments regarding possible American influence over Khan’s legal situation. He reaffirmed that there is no link between Trump’s election prospects and Khan’s case, underscoring the independence of Pakistan’s judiciary.
