Admissions Open at Pakistan’s First Government-Run Autism School

Under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism has officially opened admissions. This marks the launch of Pakistan’s first government-operated autism school, offering specialized education and support for children with autism.

The Special Education Department announced on Tuesday that parents can now register their children through the online admission portal. The school accepts applications for children aged 3 to 16. Academic programs are divided into three sections: Early Childhood Education for ages 3 to 5, Junior Section for ages 6 to 12, and Senior Section for ages 13 to 16.

Officials highlighted that the Autism School is designed to meet the developmental needs of children at different stages. The institution provides structured learning, therapeutic support, and tailored facilities to support autistic children in achieving their full potential.

The department emphasized that the school represents a major step in advancing inclusive education in Pakistan. By combining education with therapeutic interventions, the school aims to create a supportive and nurturing environment for children with autism.

Parents can submit admission forms online via the official website. The final date for registration is December 10, 2025. Authorities encourage parents of autistic children across the province to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

The Autism School also aims to raise awareness about the importance of early intervention and specialized care. By providing children with access to trained educators, therapists, and dedicated resources, the school hopes to improve educational outcomes and quality of life for children with autism.

This initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to inclusive education and social support services. The launch of the Maryam Nawaz School and Resource Centre for Autism sets a precedent for similar initiatives in other provinces, ensuring that children with autism receive the attention and resources they need to thrive.
