JUI (F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah passed away today in Islamabad after succumbing to injuries sustained in a shooting incident in Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He had been critically injured when his son opened fire at their residence in Batkhela, Malakand. Following the attack, Mufti Kifayatullah was shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad for treatment.
According to Levies officials, the tragic firing took place inside his home. During the incident, two people were killed, including his son, Ismatullah, and daughter, Salma Bibi. Mufti Kifayatullah, his wife, another son, and a daughter were seriously injured in the attack.
Ismatullah, one of the deceased, was serving as a Levies personnel. Authorities confirmed that the accused has been arrested and is in custody. Deputy Commissioner Hamidur Rehman stated that a full investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the attack.
The incident shocked residents of Malakand, where Mufti Kifayatullah was a prominent political figure associated with JUI (F). Officials emphasized that security measures are being reviewed to prevent such tragedies in the future.
A spokesperson for JUI (F) expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mufti Kifayatullah and urged the public to remain calm as authorities continue their investigation. The party highlighted his contributions to local politics and religious leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the motive behind the shooting. They confirmed that the situation is under control and no further threat to the family has been reported.
