Multan police have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing a minor girl. The arrest in abuse case took place after an operation in a local neighborhood on Tuesday.
According to the police, the suspect tried to escape when law enforcement officers arrived. During the arrest operation, he reportedly opened fire on the police team. Fortunately, no officers were injured, and the suspect was captured after a brief standoff.
The case came to light earlier this week when the girl’s family filed a complaint at a local police station. They reported that their daughter had been missing for several hours. After a search, the girl was found and taken to the hospital for medical examination.
Doctors confirmed signs of abuse, prompting police to launch an immediate investigation. After collecting evidence and recording the girl’s statement, police identified the suspect and launched a raid on his hideout.
Police said the accused has a criminal record and has been involved in similar cases in the past. He was previously arrested for assault but was released on bail.
The Multan City Police Officer (CPO) praised the efforts of the investigation team and confirmed that the suspect would be presented in court soon. The officer also promised full legal action to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
“We are treating this case with utmost seriousness,” said a police spokesperson. “We will make sure the accused faces strict punishment under the law.”
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with many demanding harsher penalties for child abusers. Civil rights groups have also urged for more child protection measures and faster legal proceedings in such cases.
In recent years, cases of child abuse have risen across Pakistan. Experts believe that lack of awareness, weak law enforcement, and social stigma often stop families from reporting such crimes. Authorities are encouraging parents to report incidents and seek legal help without delay.
The arrested suspect is now in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
