Nawaz Sharif outlined the PML-N’s primary objectives, with a strong emphasis on reviving the country’s economy and reducing the prices of essential commodities. He expressed confidence in his party’s ability to address Pakistan’s economic challenges, highlighting that the PML-N has successfully navigated similar crises in the past and is prepared to do so again. Stressing the importance of economic stability, Nawaz Sharif assured the delegation that if elected, the PML-N would prioritize measures to improve the financial situation and provide relief to the people.

Nawaz Sharif, accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz, is scheduled to travel to Jeddah from Dubai on July 4th, 2023. During his stay in Jeddah, he will engage in crucial meetings, including discussions with prominent business personalities and representatives from oil companies. These meetings are expected to address various economic matters and further strengthen Nawaz Sharif’s understanding of the prevailing issues within the country.

A recent legislative development has significant implications for Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen, the leader of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). Acting President Sadiq Sanjrani approved the Elections Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which sets the period of disqualification for public office at five years. This change in law benefits both Nawaz Sharif and Jahangir Tareen, who were previously disqualified for life by the Supreme Court ahead of the 2018 general elections. The amendment clarifies that disqualification under Article 62 of the Constitution will not exceed five years, providing a path for their potential return to public service.

Nawaz Sharif’s commitment to tackling inflation and revitalizing Pakistan’s economy presents a key message to voters in the upcoming general elections. By focusing on economic stability and addressing the rising cost of essential goods, the PML-N aims to alleviate the financial burden on the people. Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming engagements in Jeddah, including meetings with business personalities and oil company representatives, demonstrate his determination to explore potential solutions and gather insights to address economic challenges effectively. The recent legislative amendment regarding disqualification further adds to the political landscape, potentially paving the way for Nawaz Sharif’s return to public office.
