The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) proposed a Rs5.72 per unit increase in the power tariff on Friday.
This increase is for the financial year 2024-25, and Nepra has submitted a summary to the Prime Minister’s Office for approval.

According to Nepra, the new basic power tariff will be effective from July 1, 2024, raising the per unit rate from Rs29.76 to Rs35.5.
Sources indicate that the federal cabinet members will decide whether to approve or reject Nepra’s proposal. They will also determine if the tariff increase will be implemented all at once or in stages.
