Pakistan’s Foreign Office has categorically rejected Indian media reports claiming that Islamabad shut the Wagah border crossing for its nationals amid rising tensions following the recent Pahalgam attack. The clarification came after Indian outlets alleged that Pakistani citizens were stranded in India due to the supposed closure.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office confirmed that the Wagah-Attari border remains open and operational for returning Pakistani nationals. It also assured that Pakistani authorities are fully prepared to facilitate their citizens, pending cooperation from Indian border officials.

The controversy emerged after India cancelled visas issued to Pakistani nationals and suspended visa services following the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. Pakistan has voiced concerns that India’s actions have caused humanitarian difficulties, including the disruption of medical treatments and separation of families.
Despite the strained ties, Pakistan reiterated its willingness to assist its citizens and underlined that the Wagah crossing continues to function without interruption, countering claims of a border shutdown.
