KARACHI โ Internet users across Pakistan are facing significant disruptions as a key upstream provider encountered technical issues, causing a nationwide internet slowdown.
Reports suggest that the slowdown has affected internet speeds in multiple cities, making online activities difficult for users. Streaming, video calls, and other internet-dependent tasks have been disrupted as a result.
Nayatel, one of the impacted service providers, released a statement on social media. The company said the internet slowdown is caused by a temporary problem with one of its two upstream providers.
The service provider assured customers that technical teams are working closely with the upstream provider to restore normal connectivity. Despite these efforts, no exact timeline for full restoration has been announced.
Other ISPs in the country have also reported similar disruptions. Users in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad have noticed slower internet speeds, affecting both personal and professional online work.
Officials advised customers to stay updated through official channels for progress reports. They stressed that the issue is temporary and efforts are ongoing to resolve it as quickly as possible.
Industry experts say such internet slowdowns are not uncommon and usually occur when a single upstream provider faces technical glitches. They noted that these disruptions highlight the importance of diversified network connections to maintain continuous service.
Social media platforms have been flooded with user complaints about the slow connectivity. Many users expressed frustration over the internet slowdown, especially as it impacts work-from-home activities, online classes, and digital communication.
Internet service providers emphasized that while technical teams are working around the clock, patience is required until full service is restored. The situation is being monitored closely to prevent further complications.
Authorities have not reported any cyberattack or security breach linked to the internet slowdown. It appears to be purely a technical fault affecting upstream network infrastructure.
