Pakistan Strengthens Diplomatic Efforts With High-Level Delegations To Russia And Western Capitals

Pakistan is intensifying its diplomatic outreach by sending a high-level delegation to Moscow, led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi. The delegation aims to communicate Islamabad’s position on recent regional developments and emphasize peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

This visit to Russia is part of a broader initiative launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has also deployed a multi-party delegation headed by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to key Western cities such as New York, Washington D.C., London, and Brussels. These efforts are focused on garnering international support for Pakistan’s peaceful stance amidst rising regional tensions.

The Foreign Office highlighted that Mr. Fatemi’s delegation will engage with senior Russian officials, think tanks, and media to contrast Pakistan’s responsible approach with what it describes as India’s aggressive actions. The outreach seeks to mobilize global opinion in favor of peace and diplomacy over conflict.

Meanwhile, the delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari includes prominent political leaders and former diplomats who will meet various international stakeholders to discuss the importance of stability in South Asia. Both groups will also press for the urgent restoration of the Indus Waters Treaty, stressing adherence to its original terms as vital for regional cooperation.
