ISLAMABAD β Petroleum prices in Pakistan are set to increase starting September 16, as the oil industry has proposed a temporary hike for 15 days. The suggested adjustment covers petrol, high-speed diesel, kerosene, and light diesel.
According to industry sources, the proposed petrol price increase is Rs 1.54 per liter. High-speed diesel (HSD) may rise by Rs 4.79 per liter, kerosene by Rs 3.60 per liter, and light diesel by Rs 3.68 per liter.
These proposed changes are part of a 15-day price determination. The working paper shared by the industry does not include government taxes or foreign exchange losses.
Approval Process:
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit the summary of proposed prices to the government on September 15. Following this, the Prime Minister will give final approval for the revised rates. Once approved, the Finance Ministry will issue an official notification to implement the updated petroleum prices nationwide.
Current Petrol and Diesel Rates:
As of September 1, 2025, the retail petrol price stands at Rs 264.61 per liter, while diesel is priced at Rs 269.99 per liter. Motorists are advised to verify local fuel stations for exact prices. The Shell Station Locator can help find the nearest outlet.
The potential rise in petrol price is expected to affect transportation costs and daily commuting expenses. Authorities have urged the public to stay updated through official channels for the final confirmation of new rates.
With the temporary 15-day hike, consumers are advised to plan fuel purchases accordingly. The government continues to monitor global oil prices, exchange rates, and domestic supply to determine the most suitable pricing for petroleum products in Pakistan.
