Gujrat Police Investigate After Unknown Suspects Axe Pregnant Buffalo’s Legs

GUJRAT – In a shocking incident, an unknown group attacked a pregnant buffalo in Khewah, Gujrat. The perpetrators used axes, severing both front legs of the animal.

Reports stated that the buffalo was the sole source of income for a local laborer’s family. The animal collapsed in pain, yet the attackers showed no mercy.

Authorities at Saddar Jalalpur Jattan Police Station have registered a case against unidentified suspects. Police have begun raids to apprehend those named in the complaint. Investigators are exploring whether the attack was driven by personal enmity or jealousy.

Local farmers expressed outrage over the incident. They demanded immediate medical treatment for the injured buffalo at government facilities. Community members emphasized that cruelty to animals cannot be tolerated.

This is not the first such attack in Pakistan. In June 2024, a camel was similarly mutilated in Sanghar, Sindh, after entering a landlord’s fields. Following that case, several suspects were arrested, and the injured camel received care from the Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) Benji Project in Karachi.

Animal welfare experts say that attacks like these highlight the urgent need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting livestock. They urge authorities to ensure medical care for the affected animals and punish those responsible.

The Gujrat incident has sparked widespread condemnation. Citizens and activists are calling for increased awareness about animal rights and immediate action to prevent future attacks.
