The federal government has announced November 9, 2024 (Saturday) as a public holiday to commemorate Iqbal Day, celebrating the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet and philosopher.
A notification has been issued confirming the holiday across the country.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Micro Finance Banks (MFBs) will be closed on November 9 in observance of the occasion.
Iqbal Day, which was reinstated as a public holiday in 2022 after being suspended in 2015, will see educational institutions hosting events, including poetry recitals and discussions on Iqbal’s contributions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already included Iqbal Day in its list of holidays for 2024 for its overseas missions.
