Lahore has set a new 44-year rainfall record, turning major highways into rivers and streams. The heavy rain led to a tragic incident where a girl died and five others were injured due to roof collapses. Additionally, continuous rainfall caused power outages, with 288 Lesco feeders tripping, affecting various city areas.
The airport recorded 300 mm of rain, breaking previous records, while other parts of the city experienced over 200 mm of rainfall. Nishtar Town saw 250 mm, Paniwala Talab 226 mm, and Johar Town 220 mm, among other significant measurements.

This marks the second heavy rain event of the season, with Tajpura previously recording 315 mm. In response, Lahore’s Commissioner has declared an emergency and closed schools and offices to prevent further damage.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has ordered early water drainage and issued an alert to relevant departments. The Lahore Water and Sanitation Agency reported the highest rainfall at 350 mm on Airport Road, with other areas also significantly affected.
The rain has disrupted electricity with many areas experiencing power cuts. Lesco’s CEO has issued a high alert to restore power across affected regions.
