RAWALPINDI β The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken strict action against the owners of Wazir Town Housing Scheme for carrying out unauthorized construction. An FIR was registered at Chaklala Police Station by the RDAβs Building Control Wing.
According to officials, the housing project violated approved building maps and plans despite receiving several notices. Authorities had sealed the illegal structures earlier, but construction activities continued in violation of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDAβs Building and Zoning Regulations 2021.
The RDA confirmed that the Wazir Town Housing Scheme was being developed without required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) or official approvals. This raised serious concerns about compliance with urban planning laws and regulations.
Following these violations, the Director General (DG) RDA directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to intensify enforcement measures. The wing was instructed to act firmly against unauthorized construction, encroachments, and unapproved commercial activities across the city.
The DG also ordered the evaluation of applicable charges related to the approval of illegal structures. These include residential and commercial buildings, commercialization, and supplementary building plans.
The goal is to bring such projects into legal compliance and ensure that citizens are not misled by unapproved housing schemes.
Officials stressed that strict monitoring of unauthorized developments is underway. Citizens were advised to verify the status of housing projects with the RDA before making any investment to avoid financial losses.
The action against Wazir Town Housing Scheme reflects RDAβs commitment to enforcing regulations and maintaining planned urban growth in Rawalpindi. Authorities reiterated that no housing project will be allowed to continue without fulfilling the legal requirements.
