Lahore Traffic Police have detained a motorcyclist linked to more than Rs2 million in unpaid E-Challan fines during a routine enforcement operation in the provincial capital.
According to traffic police officials, the suspect, identified as Baz Muhammad, was stopped during a regular checking campaign. During the verification process, authorities discovered that hundreds of vehicles were registered in his name.
Police records revealed that 421 vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws, were registered under the suspect’s identity. Further investigation showed that these vehicles had accumulated a massive amount in unpaid E-Challan penalties.
Officials stated that the total outstanding fines had reached Rs2,088,800. The amount makes the suspect one of the largest traffic fine defaulters ever identified by Lahore Traffic Police.
Following the verification process, officers seized the motorcycle being used by the suspect. The vehicle was shifted to Muslim Town Police Station while authorities initiated further legal and administrative proceedings.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rahim Shirazi said strict action was being taken against habitual traffic violators. He confirmed that all vehicles registered in the suspect’s name have now been blacklisted.
The blacklisting means the vehicles will face restrictions on various registration-related services. Owners will not be able to complete certain transfer and administrative procedures until outstanding dues are cleared.
The case comes as Lahore Traffic Police continue an aggressive campaign against repeat offenders who ignore traffic laws and fail to pay their E-Challan penalties.
According to officials, digital monitoring systems have significantly improved the ability of law enforcement agencies to identify traffic violators. Authorities can now track unpaid fines more efficiently and take action against individuals with large numbers of pending challans.
CTO Shirazi revealed that Lahore Traffic Police have already blacklisted more than 100,000 vehicles and motorcycles due to unpaid fines. The campaign aims to improve traffic discipline and ensure greater compliance with road safety regulations.
Officials believe that stricter enforcement measures will encourage motorists to clear their outstanding penalties and follow traffic rules. They also emphasized that ignoring electronic challans can lead to serious consequences, including vehicle seizures and administrative restrictions.
The latest case serves as a warning to traffic violators across Lahore. Authorities say no matter how large the number of unpaid challans becomes, modern tracking systems will continue to identify offenders.
