Red Zone Sealed in Preparation for PTI Protest

In anticipation of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, the Red Zone in Islamabad has once again been sealed off, with containers placed on roads leading to the area. Only Margalla Road remains accessible, while containers at Faizabad on the Express Highway have caused significant traffic delays, particularly affecting citizens commuting to work and school early in the morning.

Despite these restrictions, PTI leaders have reaffirmed their intention to proceed with scheduled rallies across Punjab. Former Prime Minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan has called for nationwide protests, emphasizing the need to support the judiciary’s independence.

He specifically urged supporters to join rallies in Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, and a major demonstration at D-Chowk in Islamabad this Friday.

In response, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) authorities have implemented Section 144 and the Peaceful Assembly Act, which ban gatherings and processions in restricted areas as part of heightened security measures. The ICT Police have designated the Red Zone and surrounding areas as restricted and emphasized their commitment to protecting citizens’ lives and property.

Authorities have warned that anyone participating in illegal activities will face legal action.
