The Sargodha district administration has announced that schools closed in flood-hit areas of Kot Momin due to rising floodwaters. Authorities said the move is aimed at protecting children and teachers from potential risks.
Sargodha Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Waseem confirmed on Wednesday that schools will remain closed from August 27 to September 2. He emphasized that the decision prioritizes safety amid heavy rains and overflowing rivers affecting parts of the district.
The holidays apply specifically to the flood-affected regions of Kot Momin. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation while relief operations continue. Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow safety instructions during this high-risk period.

Advance rescue measures are underway in Tehsil Kot Momin. The DC, along with District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf, visited affected areas including Halalpur, Hayatpur, and Madh Ranjha. They inspected relief camps established for families displaced by flooding.
Evacuation efforts are ongoing along the banks of the Chenab River, where residents and livestock are being moved to safer locations. Emergency teams, including the Pakistan Army and Rescue 1122, are actively shifting people and animals to secure shelters. Relief camps provide food, medical facilities, and temporary housing for those affected.
Earlier, authorities also announced that schools closed on Wednesday in Pasrur following intermittent rains and overflowing drains. The heavy rainfall caused breaches in drainage barriers, submerging more than 100 villages. Paddy and fodder crops were affected, and main roads and railway tracks were under water, disrupting transportation.
Officials continue to urge residents to stay alert and cooperate with rescue teams. The district administration said that all precautionary steps are being taken to minimize damage and protect lives in the flood-hit regions.
