The Sindh government has taken a significant step by implementing a ban on the usage of Sheesha and e-cigarettes (vape) in public places. This decision aligns with the Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance 2002, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding public health.
Directives have been issued to Commissioners across various divisions, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Sukkur, to ensure the enforcement of this ban. The provincial authorities have specifically prohibited the use of sheesha and e-cigarettes (vape) in public spaces such as hotels, restaurants, parks, cafes, and picnic spots.

Concerns have been raised regarding the public nuisance caused by sheesha, especially among parents of teenage boys and girls, with fears that it may disrupt public peace. In response to these concerns, the health department has instructed authorities to rigorously enforce the ban and take necessary action against individuals or establishments found violating it.
This proactive measure underscores the government’s dedication to promoting a healthy environment and protecting the well-being of its citizens. By curtailing the usage of sheesha and e-cigarettes (vape) in public areas, Sindh aims to mitigate potential health risks and foster a smoke-free environment for all.
