Verdict in £190 Million Case Involving Imran Khan Postponed Again

The accountability court has once again postponed its decision in the £190 million corruption case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The court announced that the new date for the verdict is now set for 13 January. The delay occurred due to the leave of Judge Nasir Javed Rana.

The verdict was originally expected on Monday, but Imran Khan’s legal counsel, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, was informed by the court staff of the postponement. Initially, the session was scheduled to take place at Adiala Jail, but logistical difficulties led to the hearing being moved to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Court in G-11.

In addition, hearings in 13 other cases, including the GHQ attack and the 9 May incidents, have also been deferred to 8 January due to the absence of Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who was on training. All accused in these cases were granted exemptions from attendance for the day.

What is the £190 Million Case?

The £190 million case revolves around allegations that Imran Khan and others adjusted Rs50 billion—equivalent to £190 million at the time—transferred by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to Pakistan. As Prime Minister, Khan secured cabinet approval for the settlement in December 2019 without disclosing confidential details. The agreement indicated that the funds were to be submitted to the Supreme Court, but allegations surfaced that Khan and his wife received land worth billions for the construction of an educational institute.
