Pervez Khattak Resigns as Party Chairman Following Disappointing Performance in Elections

Pervez Khattak, the former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resigned from his position as the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) on Saturday, following a lackluster performance in the recent general elections.

The decision was made after the PTI-P’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting, where Khattak’s resignation as the party chief was accepted. The committee determined that Mahmood Khan, the former Chief Minister of KP, would oversee the party’s affairs until the election of the next party chairman.

Khattak not only stepped down as the party chairman but also relinquished his other party positions, citing health concerns as the reason. “I am resigning from the party positions due to health concerns,” he stated, expressing hope that the new leadership would play a crucial role in advancing the party’s objectives.

Contrary to recent rumors suggesting his departure from politics after the nationwide general elections on February 8, Khattak had previously refuted such claims. In an exclusive conversation, he strongly denied any intentions of leaving the party or retiring from politics, dismissing such reports as unfounded and misleading. Khattak reiterated his commitment to public service, expressing gratitude for the recognition of his contributions and reaffirming his dedication to serving the people.
