Peshawar's Parks Embrace Digital Transformation with KP Government's Initiative for WiFi Service for Visitors

In an age where people often seek refuge in parks to disconnect from technology, the provision of WiFi in public parks and outdoor spaces is increasingly viewed as an enhancement to the overall visitor experience. Recognizing this shift, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has embarked on a progressive initiative to facilitate connectivity and convenience for residents and visitors alike.

According to reports in local media, the government in the northwestern region has taken the commendable step of introducing free WiFi services in public parks across Peshawar. This initiative, aimed at fostering connectivity and facilitating remote work or leisure activities outdoors, reflects a forward-thinking approach to urban planning and public service.

Chairing a meeting to deliberate on the city’s maintenance works and recreational projects, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur underscored the importance of embracing technological advancements to meet the evolving needs of the populace. He directed relevant authorities to expedite the planning process for the implementation of free WiFi services, with plans for subsequent approval by the provincial government.

Moreover, Chief Minister Gandapur articulated the government’s commitment to extending this service to other cities in the region in the near future, thereby broadening its impact and accessibility. Additionally, the meeting outlined plans to launch a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service on Nasir Bagh Road, aiming to enhance citizens’ travel experience and improve urban mobility.

In a holistic approach to urban development, the Chief Minister emphasized various infrastructure initiatives, including the conversion of street lights to solar power, the construction of underpasses for improved traffic flow, and the urgent repair and construction of roads, particularly along the BRT Corridor at University Road.

Furthermore, to enhance the aesthetic appeal of public spaces, the government plans to adorn street walls and bridges with cultural designs, alongside the placement of artificial plants for environmental enhancement. Chief Minister Gandapur also called for collaborative efforts with private organizations to support and amplify these initiatives, fostering a sense of community engagement and ownership.

In summary, the introduction of free WiFi services in public parks represents a significant stride towards leveraging technology to enrich the outdoor experience for citizens.
