PTI's Shift in Stance on Dialogue with Establishment Following DG ISPR's Press Conference

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif, has firmly rejected the prospect of engaging in dialogue with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), categorically ruling out any discussions with what he termed as anarchists. This statement comes after PTI leaders initially expressed a desire for dialogue with the Chief of Army Staff and the head of the ISI, rather than with members of the current government.

Following the strongly worded press conference by the Army spokesperson, PTI appears to have reversed its stance on engaging in dialogue with the military establishment. Asad Qaiser, a prominent PTI leader, asserted that the party is committed to upholding constitutional and legal supremacy and reiterated that it does not seek dialogue with any entity.

Qaiser emphasized that both Imran Khan and senior party leaders uphold the principles of constitutional and legal supremacy, advocating for all institutions to operate within their designated constitutional boundaries. He cast doubt on the formation of a committee for dialogue with the military establishment, stating that such discussions were not part of the agenda during the meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan. Furthermore, Qaiser clarified that while PTI aims to address concerns raised about the recent elections, it has no intention of engaging with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

In relation to the elections, Qaiser highlighted PTI’s call for a judicial commission to investigate the matter, underlining the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
